Wyatt Besnoy- I am a Junior at Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest in New Jersey. When I heard that people in Louisiana were still homeless months after Hurricane Ida had hit, I felt compelled to help. Our rebuild in Cut Off, Louisiana was hard but showed me that our work could make a difference in people’s lives. I look forward to our next service trip.

I am a Senior attending Northern Valley Regional High school in Demarest New Jersey. I remember watching the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey on television, along with the suffering and human toll it caused. Thus, I decided to do something about this injustice rather than sending my “thoughts and prayers'‘. With a group of friends, we started Demarest Teen Disaster Relief where we could make a difference on the ground, in places affected by natural disasters, making a real impact in people’s lives. We continue to plan multiple trips to areas in crisis to do our part.

Hi! I am currently a junior at the Horace Mann School in Bronx, NY. I first started getting into rebuilding houses by participating in my school’s Habitat for Humanity club. Once I heard of the disaster that struck Houston during Hurricane Harvey, I immediately knew that I wanted to help. Demarest Teen Disaster Relief is the perfect place where I can apply my skills that I have learned at school to help those in need. I hope to continue with Demarest Teen Disaster Relief and do my best to fulfill my duty to social service and help in whatever way I can.

Hello, I am a junior at Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, NJ. After I heard my friends going to Houston the previous year to rebuild houses that were affected by Hurricane Harvey. I knew I had to join them for the next project. So in Feb. 2019 the Demarest Teen Disaster Group went to Baton Rouge to help the houses that were affected by natural disasters. I joined the Demarest Teen Disaster Group because I believe this group could really impact people’s lives. I hope there are going to be more projects in the future because this group will aid those who need help.

Leslie Kang -

I am currently a senior boarding student at The Stony Brook School in Stony Brook, NY but I live in Demarest, NJ. Hurricane Harvey sparked my interest in volunteering and fundraising and I’ve done fundraising through my school for disaster relief and went to Houston with the Demarest Teen Disaster Relief group in February 2018. I wouldn’t want to be working with any other group to really make meaningful change and I can’t wait for the things to come!

Cole Wasserman-

I am currently a junior at Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, NJ. After seeing the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, I knew that I had to get involved and help in any way I could. Demarest Teen Disaster Relief has helped me help those in need both in Houston and in Baton Rouge. I look forward to our future projects and our furniture drive.
